Inspiration

Although the ideas for our film opening came mainly from our own imagination we were influenced by the gritty and realist style of some British films such as Trainspotting and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels.

Group Evaluation of Foundation Production

The importance of time usage

Getting the right sound for our production became an issue when it came to a day before the screening in class and we still had not put any music or voiceover onto our production. So on that night George did the voiceover and on the next day there was a rush to find some non-copyrighted music to use. We pieced it together as quickly as possible and managed to export the film opening in the nick of time!

This was an important lesson for our group, especially since we did not plan the time that we needed on the project, very precisely.

Editing

To have flashbacks and flashforwards we had to cut up the footage so that there was a clear contrast. Ryan mentioned that to make the flashbacks look unique, distinct and in the past it would be a good idea to have black and white. We added a fade to white transition between shots to further pronounce the switching between shots. Other than this there was no other editing in terms of changes with the actual shots.

As said in the Filming post we had to redo the 'Doctors' scene because it was inadequate. After doing that and coming back to edit the new shots in we also had to do titles, credits. Something which stood out amongst this was the ending of the film opening before the film begins. We synced the voice of the protagonist announcing the name of the film with the title. This added a powerful dramatic effect to leave the audience ready for the film itself.

Location Pictures

This is the Doctor's Office. The doctor would sit at the desk while the protagonist would be where the second chair is but instead in a wheelchair.

In this we see George (main protagonist) sitting in the wheelchair waiting outside the Doctors office.

These are the stairs you see briefly in the film opening.

This was the area we used to shoot the football scene, however on the day of filming the pitch was a lot brighter than this.
